The Brit award winning band were never given as much recognition as they deserved here in Canada.
The band released album Permission to Land which pulled off #1 album in the UK in 2003, then in 2005 One Way Ticket to Hell...and Back released in November 2005, only reaching #11 on the charts.
Chart numbers aside, while being a byproduct of influences such as AC/DC and Thin Lizzy, The Darkness found their own distinct sound in the voice of singer Justin Hawkins. The Darkness is the kind of band that is hard to take seriously, but you cannot help but love listening to.
Oh, come on, now! The Darkness got all the recognition they deserved: as a one (or was it two?) hit wonder! Granted...what a hit it was, though!
ReplyDeleteOh The Darkness! Classic... I dont think we will ever forget them, but yes I agree with the above comment, I personally wouldn't give them much credit beyond that. We need one hit wonders or one album hits to come around every once in a while and they provided us with that. I have to admit that after about 20mins of Justin's voice, my ears have had enough. Thats just my personal opinion haha. Good post!
ReplyDeletePermission To Land is amazing, I love it. Definitely a record you could get smashed and dance around to.
ReplyDeleteyes. thank you kelsey.
